After 10 years gardening on solid rock in Rollingwood, I moved into a 40's cottage in the North Loop area spring 2007. The little postage stamp yard is black clay and no one had ever dug a single flower bed. After visiting Key West a few years ago, I came back inspired by the little frame cottages, white painted railings, and rustling palm leaves. So the plan is: desert tropical cottage garden.

I'm laughing, Libby, but only to keep from crying. It's almost as bad here in the Houston area. Here's to better days!
I've got some crispies too. This kind of weather makes a water garden so much more desirable, Libby. Water plants don't get thirsty, and looking at a pond makes you feel cooler. You need that stock tank!
My loquat was a Hailedius topiecies before it was burnus crispus, Libby. It wasn't an improvement to have the Ice balls replaced by drought & 105°F.

Snicker. We laugh so we don't cry. But if we all got together and cried, you think it'd be enough to keep one of these plants alive?
