Looking north, on the lawn of the David/Peese residence.
A huge bouquet of fragrant and billowing thank yous to Pam, Melissa, Diana, and Bonnie for all their hard work in organizing the first Garden Bloggers Spring Fling. It was fun to read Pam's post about the first night’s conversation over enchiladas at Matt’s. I have to say that my table quickly devolved from dirt and HTML, to how we have assimilated gay children into our extended families. Don’t ask me how this happened but all I can say is that apparently affinity for gardening = immediate intimacy. We laughed a lot and found common ground (predominantly clay, with poor drainage).
And after hearing Tom Spencer speak, I guess it should be no surprise. Spending time as we do, noses close to the ground, inspecting small things closely, we gardeners have a well-tuned sense of what’s important, and what to let slide.
One high point was for me the open lawn at 8 Sugar Shack. What a lovely prospect. It made me want to rush home and reconnect with my own much more humble, yet no less, reverential patch of joy. Happy gardening, garden bloggers!

Lovely post and it was so nice to meet you at the Fling. It was a great time, wasn't it? I was astounded by the instant connections, too. It felt like a high school reunion or something! So glad we did and I'm so glad you joined in.
Libby, I'm sorry I didn't get to meet you yesterday. I realized at Pam's that we hadn't met yet, but you weren't there. We'll just have to have a next time.
Libby: That lawn looks so inviting! We do love our lawns don't we! I ams so sorry I didn't have the chance to meet you but I am looking forward to your posts on the weekend or day even and the other little glimpses into the event. When you come to RI next month(?) I hope you have time to give me a call and come visit the garden if possible.
Libby, I enjoyed meeting you in person after following your blog for a while. Thanks for your thoughtful post. I'm glad you had a good time at the Spring Fling.
Oh, I think we must have missed each other on Saturday, but I had so much fun, too! Diana's right-- it was like a reunion.
Our meeting was brief Libby, but now your face comes to mind as I read your words.
You caught one of the coolest parts of the David garden - nothing attainable but much to admire!

I too felt that immediate intimacy with the other garden bloggers. Wasn't that the best - to be accepted was quickly & understood so easily. I also loved that lawn. I think it is the contrast between that perfect & my weedpatch that drew me to it.
It was an amazing thing to just walk into a group of strangers and instantly start having conversations that were extensions of the conversations we'd been having online.
Ah jes' lubs de innernets!
Hi Libby,
My head is still spinning from the busy weekend and other travel. But I wanted to say "hey" and let you know I'm looking forward to reading more about your cottage garden. So much inspiration, huh?
